JOURNEYHELPER

makes your wait at airports meaningful.

01

RESEARCH

INTERVIEW
interviewed 20 people who flew more than three times a year.
16 of them expressed they didn't know how to kill time while waiting to board.
10 of them said they wanted to plan or review their trips while waiting.

"The only thing I can do during waits for flights is to read messages on my phone."

"What's more boring than waiting is more and more delays."

"I would like to learn some cultural information while waiting at the airport."

"I'm not good at preparing or summarizing my trips before and after traveling. "

EXPERIENCE MAPPING
I also asked them to recall their normal timeline in an airport.

Average wait at check-in: 20 mins

Average wait at security check: 25 mins

Average wait at the gate: 1.5 hours

The wait at the boarding gate is the longest.
Also, travelers have more freedom when waiting at the gate.
Thus, I chose the gate area as my target place to intervene.

ANALYZE

PERSONA
Passengers feel bored while waiting for the flight.
They want to use this time to do something meaningful,
like planning for trips, learning about local culture, or making journals.
SCENARIO
Based on what target users told me, I illustrated their pain point:
they feel bored and don't have resources to do what they want,
which is to plan and review trips.
