RESEARCH

INTERVIEW

I interviewed ten people who play sports weekly. Some recurring answers drew my attention.

"I love football since childhood, but after I started my job, it’s been hard to find players for team sports."

"I don’t like playing sports alone, so I always look for partners before going."

"My colleagues recommended some gyms to me, but memberships are quite expensive."

"I love playing tennis, but court fees cost a lot every time, and it makes me hesitate."

EXPERIMENT

I invited interviewees to imagine a scenario: they were at home and wanted to play sports. I asked them to articulate their actions and gave them some obstacles, challenging them to tell solutions. Based on their answers and time they used to provide them,

these two factors are the biggest ones stopping people from playing sports.

High costs

of memberships and venue fees

Few partners

for team sports

PERSONAS

I summarize characteristics of target users, analyze their problems, and define needs and wants.

From the user research and analysis, I conclude that: they don't have enough exercises because

they don't have affordable memberships / venues or enough team members.

USER EXPERIENCE MAP

I sorted research results into the map to showcase the user journey.

I illustrated users' actions, feelings, and thoughts in each step.

They are the most frustrated when paying bills / fees and failing to have enough partners.

PROBLEM TREE

I identified the core problem and its causes and effects.

I ranked them in increasing importance.

02

CONCEPTUALIZE

BRAINSTORM

The recurring pain points are high membership bills / venue fees and difficulty looking for partners.

I brainstormed potential solutions based on these core problems.

Then I evaluated them. The bright red ones are more creative, feasible, and unique.

USER FLOW

I decided to design functions of organizing teams, dividing fees, and sharing memberships.

I mapped the information architecture of the app.

Black diamonds show actions and red rectangles will be user interfaces.

03

CREATE

WIREFRAMES

I translated user flow into screens and added interaction logic.
